Resort Scams

What are resort scams? How do resort scams affect you as a consumer? Are you a victim of a resort scam? What rights do you have as a consumer if you believe you are a victim of a resort scam? Consumers are asking themselves these questions daily, before, and after they have purchased a timeshare from a resort. Many of these consumers do not have any idea that they are victims until they have indeed purchased.
Resort scams are any sort of misrepresentation, or deceptive sales practices that happen to consumers when they buy a timeshare. If you purchased a timeshare in the past ten years, odds are you are a victim. Many timeshare owners are unaware they are actually a victim, until they start to use their timeshare. Generally first year of use on any new purchase is the following year, unless it is a bi-annual, or tri-annual contract. So some consumers might not know for two, or three years. By this time the stated rescission period in the contract is obviously over, and they are left thinking they cannot get out of the contract.
When first finding out that you are a victim of a resort scam, you need to assess all the facts form your purchase. These facts are very important, they will help you cancel a fraudulent contract, and possibly get your money back. You have rights as a consumer, contrary to what the resort staff tells you. Most of the time, consumers find these facts out when they call the resort, and try to use the timeshare.
The resorts first job, when you find these facts out, is to spin you around, and make it seem like you are the one who is in the wrong. Resorts will use any means necessary to keep you in your timeshare, including threats of legal action, if YOU do not continue to pay for the timeshare. This in the timeshare cancellation industry, we call scare tactics. The resort wants to scare you into submission. They know they are wrong, but until you process any type of formal complaint; the resort is exempt from action. They will try to brow beat, threaten, or coerce you into keeping your timeshare.
This is why you need Timeshare-Answers. We are a professional consumer advocacy company that specializes in helping timeshare owners cancel timeshare contracts. Timeshare Help

Timeshare help comes in many different forms, and from many different resources, such as the Attorney Generals Office in the state you bought your timeshare, The Federal Trade Commission, which governs sales, and consumer purchases, also the Federal department of Real Estate and the BBB where you made your purchase.

Timeshare-Answers is a company that specializes in the precise way to go about getting help from these agencies, and many more. Be wary of the help offered to you from unsolicited phone calls, unlicensed companies, and any other self help guide books, or forms that are offered for a fee on the internet.

When trying to get timeshare related help you need to make sure that any company you find is a well established business that has been in business for a minimum of 3 years. Anything under 3 years, you could be in for another scam. You should also contact the BBB in the area the business is located. This is to see what kind of rating the company has. One thing to keep in mind, when cross-referencing a company with the BBB, is to check for length of time business has been operating. Also check if the company is licensed, bonded, and insured.

When a company is licensed, bonded, and insured you as a consumer are protected. First, it guarantees that the money you give the company will not be lost. The insurance covers your money. Second the license the company carries needs to be governed by a state, or federal agency. This assures you that the company is following all the rules, regulations, and is constantly monitored from a government agency. Third is the proper bonding is in place to add a second layer of protection for any, possible issue, such as a lawsuit.
Some more specific examples are, buying a book, instead of taking a college course, or hiring a handyman instead of a general contractor to build your new home.

Timeshare-Answers is the go to company when it comes to timeshare help. We are licensed, bonded, insured and A rated. We have been in business for over four years, and have the knowledge, and professional team of experts to guide you through the timeshare cancellation process. We have helped over 18,000 clients worldwide with timeshare related issues. Timeshare Scam

Timeshare-Answers has been made aware of many timeshare scams that are ongoing daily to consumers. If the resort, or a resale company has scammed you, or made any other offer that is too good to be true, we can help. Our staff has heard thousands of consumer complaints, making us experts in providing you the answers to many questions in the timeshare industry.

Case in point:

William, a timeshare owner, was at home one evening when he got a call from a company claiming to have a buyer for his timeshare. He believed the caller only because a month earlier, he got a similar call from a different company offering to list his timeshare for sale. The listing company said that they would market his timeshare for sale at a profit to him of almost double what he paid. He had a feeling that it was to good to be true, but went along with it anyway because they offered a 90-day money back guarantee if it didn't sell. After he paid the fee of $600.00 to list his property, he thought, “well I only have to wait 90 days and if it doesn't sell I get my $600.00 back.”

Well the call to buy his timeshare came exactly 60 days after he paid the listing company. The so-called buyer told him, they found his ad on the listing companies website and they were willing to pay the asking price. The only condition was they wanted him to pay the closing costs.

William decided, after receiving very official looking documents, this was fair and wired the closing costs of 20% to a so-called escrow account. Once the money was wired William never heard from the company again, and because he wired the money to the company, the money was as good as gone. He notified the authorities after calling Timeshare-Answers for advice.

If only William had called us before giving any money to either company, he would have been provided with the information that would have saved him from this elaborate scam.

Many of these timeshare SCAMS happen daily to consumers all over the world. It seems there is a new one popping up everyday. Do not fall victim to a resale scam or a resort scam. Call Timeshare-Answers before you pay anything to anyone when it comes to your timeshare. 888-722-2648

Timeshare Attorneys

Is there such a thing as Timeshare Attorneys? Timeshare Attorneys do exist, however this is not a field that is readily pursued by law students. Some Real estate Attorneys will take on a client with a timeshare, but this is very rare. If the Attorney does decide to take the case, they would need a license in the state or country the timeshare is located. Additionally the amount of money invested in a timeshare does not generally attract the attention of most attorneys. They are usually looking for a much larger contract to charge more fees. The average attorney charges between $200-$300 an hour and the average timeshare cancellation takes about 3-6 months or 100-150 hours of work to cancel. In short Timeshare Attorneys do not have the time, expertise, or license to handle Timeshare Cancellations.  Timeshare-Answers has all of these resources and ONLY specializes in the timeshare owners needs.
